Transcript Extractor — Privacy Policy

What the extension does with your data

The extension reads the captions of the YouTube video you have open, only inside your browser on www.youtube.com and only when you use it (the Transcript button, the panel or the batch export in the toolbar popup). The text is shown next to the video and, when you ask for it, copied to your clipboard or saved as a file on your computer. Nothing is sent to any server: there is no server of ours, no analytics in the extension, no third parties. The only requests the extension makes go to www.youtube.com itself, the same requests the YouTube player makes for captions.

When you choose "Open in ChatGPT" or "Open in Claude", the text is placed on your clipboard and the chat site opens in a new tab. It reaches that site only when you paste it yourself.

The extension stores in chrome.storage.local on your computer only your settings (timestamps, paragraphs, language, prompt, batch format) and the queue for batch export (video ids and titles). Transcripts are not stored: they are read from YouTube, handed to you and discarded.

What we never do

Website analytics

The welcome and goodbye pages on this website use Google Analytics to count installs and removals. The extension itself contains no analytics code.
